The Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship Programme (ISP) is an opportunity for outstanding scholars from selected developing countries, who have no other means of financing their studies, to pursue postgraduate education. The award is structured as a half-grant and half-loan (with a 5% annual service charge on the loan amount). The loan must be repaid over five years, starting six months after the study period funded.

Eligibility
Must be a national of one of the eligible countries
Must be under 30 years of age
Must have excellent academic records
Must have genuine financial need (this is a 'last resort' scholarship)
Must be admitted to a highly reputable university (UK, US, Canada, etc.)
Must have some years of work experience relevant to the field of study
Requirements
Obtain an application form from the local AKF office in your country
Complete the detailed financial needs assessment
Provide proof of admission to a university
Provide two academic references and one professional reference
Submit the form to the local office before the deadline

Contact the local Aga Khan Foundation or Aga Khan Education Service / Board office in your country to request an application form (forms are NOT online)
Complete the form and attach all supporting documents
Submit the hard copy to the local office by March 31, 2026
Attend an interview if shortlisted by the local committee
How to Apply
You cannot download the form online. You must physically visit or email the local AKF office in your country of residence (e.g., AKF India, AKF Pakistan, AKF East Africa) to get the form. The deadline is strict.
