Fully Funded Scholarship in Efficient and Trustworthy CFD Simulation of Hypersonic Glide

This PhD project focuses on developing efficient and trustworthy computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for hypersonic glide vehicles operating in extreme aerothermal environments. Using the University's in-house AMROC software infrastructure, the researcher will extend predictive, non-equilibrium aerothermodynamic overset strand-mesh solvers and couple them directly with flight control methodologies. The research is part of the UK Hypersonics Doctoral Network, supported by the Ministry of Defence and EPSRC. Candidates will join a cohort led by the University of Oxford and Imperial College, receiving substantial training in hypersonic vehicle design, numerical simulation, and ground testing. This position offers a unique opportunity to build critical expertise for next-generation aerospace defense systems.
