The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is a premier award given to international students with excellent academic undergraduate and/or master's results, and a strong interest in doing research leading to a doctorate (PhD) in Science and Engineering at a Singapore University. It is a collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), and Singapore Management University (SMU). As a fully funded, bond-free scholarship, SINGA covers all tuition fees and provides generous living stipends, empowering scholars to focus purely on their research and innovation in one of Asia's most advanced scientific ecosystems.

Eligibility
Must be an international graduate (non-Singaporean) studying in Singapore for the first time
Must have a strong passion for research and excellent academic results
Must be proficient in written and spoken English
Must have supportive recommendations from academic referees
Must not be a Singapore Citizen, Permanent Resident, or an international student who has previously studied at a Singapore tertiary institution
Requirements
Submission of official Bachelor's and/or Master's academic transcripts
Provision of a Bachelor's Degree certificate (or an official letter of certification if the degree is pending)
Two recommendation reports submitted online directly by the referees
No physical documents should be mailed; all submissions are exclusively online

Application Process
Review the eligible PhD projects and supervisors across A*STAR, NTU, NUS, SMU, and SUTD
Prepare all required academic documents, ensuring they are correctly translated into English
Access the official A*STAR SINGA application portal
Complete the essay questions and upload all required documents
Indicate your choice of supervisor within the application form and submit entirely online
How to Apply
Draft your application essays on a separate word processor before pasting them into the portal to prevent losing your work
Ensure your referees are informed early, as they must complete the recommendation reports online before the deadline
Do not mail any hard copies to the SINGA office; only digital applications are processed
Submit your application before June 1st to be considered for the January intake of the following year
Selection Process
Initial administrative screening of all online applications
Detailed academic and research review by respective university and A*STAR panels
Shortlisted candidates will be notified and invited for interviews (often conducted virtually or in-person)
Successful candidates will receive official scholarship offers and university admission approximately 12 weeks after the closing date
