The Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship (BDGS) is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is awarded to foreign students to undertake Diploma, Undergraduate Degree, and Postgraduate Master's Degree programs. The scholarship aims to strengthen diplomatic ties and allows recipients to study at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPU SB), or Politeknik Brunei (PB).
Benefits
Exemption from tuition fees (including acceptance, examination, registration, and orientation fees).
Monthly personal allowance of BND $500.00.
Monthly meal allowance of BND $150.00.
Annual book allowance of BND $600.00.
Accommodation at the residential college of the University/Polytechnic.
Round-trip economy class airfare (start and end of program).
Baggage allowance (BND $250 for ASEAN / BND $500 for non-ASEAN).

Eligibility
Must be a citizen of any country other than Brunei Darussalam (Permanent Residents of Brunei are not eligible).
Must be between the ages of 18 and 25 for Undergraduate and Diploma programs (as of 1 July 2026).
Must not exceed the age of 35 for Postgraduate Master's Degree programs (as of 1 July 2026).
Must meet the specific admission requirements of the chosen institution and program.
Must demonstrate English proficiency (GCE 'O' Level Credit 6, IGCSE Grade C, IELTS 6.0, or TOEFL 550).
Requirements
Complete the BDGS application form.
Submit certified true copies of academic transcripts and certificates.
Submit a certified copy of Birth Certificate and Passport.
Provide proof of English Language Proficiency.
Provide a Security Clearance Statement from the National Security Agency/Police in the home country (often required at later stages or as 'Certificate of Good Conduct').
Submit reference letters.

Application Process
1. Download the application form from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) website.
2. Apply separately for admission to the university of choice (UBD, UNISSA, UTB, etc.) via their respective online portals (this is often mandatory alongside the scholarship application).
3. Complete the BDGS scholarship form and attach all required certified documents.
4. Submit the completed scholarship application form via email to the address provided by MFA (usually applyBDGS2026@mfa.gov.bn) or via the online link if updated for the cycle.
How to Apply
Download the official BDGS form from the MFA Brunei website. Simultaneously, apply to your desired university (e.g., UBD or UTB) through their admissions portal. Submit the scholarship form and supporting documents to the scholarship email (applyBDGS2026@mfa.gov.bn) by the February 15 deadline.
Selection Process
Initial screening by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Academic assessment by the respective host university.
Final selection and approval by the scholarship committee.
Successful applicants are notified via email (usually by June).
