The Inbound Researcher Mobility (IRM) program at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is designed to strengthen global academic collaboration by inviting distinguished overseas professors to the institution. Through this initiative, ITS provides categorized funding support for visiting scholars to engage in joint research activities, foster partnerships with Indonesian academics, and ultimately publish collaborative papers in reputable international journals. The program targets highly qualified academics with a strong publication record to spend time at the ITS campus in Indonesia.
Benefits
Group A (Canada, United States, United Kingdom) receives Rp60.000.000 in funding
Group B (European countries) receives Rp50.000.000 in funding
Group C (Asia Non-ASEAN countries, Australia) receives Rp40.000.000 in funding
Group D (ASEAN countries) receives Rp30.000.000 in funding
Funding is flexible and can be utilized for return flight tickets, accommodation, living expenses, proofreading fees, and visa costs
Eligibility
Must be affiliated with a credible overseas university
Must hold an academic title of at least Doctor (PhD or equivalent)
Must have a Scopus h-index of 10 or higher for Science & Technology fields
Must have a Scopus h-index of 8 or higher for Social Sciences & Humanities fields
Must have expertise directly related to the hosting department at ITS
Must demonstrate good communication and academic writing skills in English
Experience as a head of laboratory or editor of an international journal is preferable but not mandatory
Requirements
Commitment to produce a mandatory manuscript for joint publication in an international journal (Scopus Q1/Q2)
Commitment to establish an Implementation Arrangement (IA) between the institutions
Submission of a proposed activity plan for the duration of the stay at ITS
Must strictly comply with all applicable regulations in Indonesia
Optional but encouraged participation in non-mandatory outcomes such as teaching activities or joint supervision

Statement letter confirming participation as a visiting professor at ITS under the IRM program
Official recommendation letter from the applicant's home institution

Application Process
Check the ITS departments website and faculty list to identify a potential host
Contact an ITS faculty member directly, or reach out to ITS Global Engagement for assistance in finding a host
Complete the required documents according to the official template found at its.id/IRMdocs
The formal application submission must be completed strictly by the nominating ITS faculty member via the internal link its.id/ITSVisitingProf2026
Wait for ITS Global Engagement to notify the nominating faculty, after which the funding will be transferred and managed by the hosting department
How to Apply
Prospective visiting professors cannot apply directly; you must establish contact and secure a nomination from an existing ITS faculty member who will submit the application on your behalf
Registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, and the application portal will be closed early if the maximum quota is reached before the final deadline
Selection Process
Selection is driven by the nominating faculty and approved by the Directorate of Global Engagement
Evaluations are based on the visiting scholar's Scopus h-index, academic credibility, and the proposed joint publication strategy
