The Amgen Scholars Asia Program at the National University of Singapore (NUS) offers selected undergraduate students from across Asia the opportunity to engage in 8 weeks of hands-on biomedical or biotechnological research. Participants work under leading faculty members, attend weekly seminars, and present their research at the Amgen Scholars Asia Symposium in Tokyo, Japan. The program aims to inspire the next generation of innovators to pursue PhDs and careers in science.
Benefits
Accommodation provided by NUS for the entire program duration.
Stipend of SGD 6,000 for living costs (meals, transport, etc.).
Travel grant (up to SGD 1,500 for international scholars) to cover airfare to Singapore and from Japan back home.
Visa application fees covered and support provided.
Round-trip airfare to the Amgen Scholars Asia Symposium in Tokyo, Japan.
Access to campus facilities (Library, Sports Centre, etc.).
Eligibility
Must be enrolled in a college or university in Asia that awards a bachelor's degree (or equivalent).
Must have completed the first year of undergraduate study before the program begins.
Must not be graduating before the summer program starts.
Must resume undergraduate studies for at least one semester or quarter after the program ends.
Must have a strong record of academic performance.
Must demonstrate English proficiency (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, or university letter) if not a native speaker or from an English-medium university.
Must have an interest in pursuing a Ph.D.
