The European Commission Blue Book Traineeship programme offers five-month paid traineeships to university graduates worldwide. With around 1,000 positions available per session, trainees gain hands-on experience in EU policymaking, public administration, and translation in an international environment. Trainees are placed in Commission departments, executive agencies, and other EU bodies, primarily in Brussels and Luxembourg. The programme provides a monthly living allowance of €1,538.16, professional skills development, and intercultural awareness.

Eligibility
Must have successfully completed a full three-year university degree (EQF Level 6) or equivalent by the application deadline
Must have no prior work experience of more than 42 days in any EU Institution, body, or agency
Must satisfy strict language proficiency requirements (typically two official EU languages for EU nationals, or one procedural language for non-EU nationals)
Must hold a valid passport or national identity card
Must be able to provide written proof for all qualifications and professional experiences declared
The Translation Traineeship (DGT) is exclusively open to candidates from EU Member States
Requirements
Submission of an online application through the candidate account on the EU Login portal
Upload of all supporting documents merged together as one single PDF file
Completion of a general motivation section explaining interest in the traineeship (between 500 and 1,500 characters)
Translation Traineeship (DGT) applicants must be capable of translating into their native language from at least two official EU languages

Language proficiency certificates or proof of language knowledge

Review the application carefully and submit it before the session deadline, as no additional documents are accepted post-submission
Pass the administrative eligibility checks to be included in the Virtual Blue Book
Apply for up to three specific traineeship positions during the active selection phase rounds

Selection Process
