The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) International Internship Pilot Program (IIPP) is designed to attract global talents to experience Taiwan's strengths in science and technology. The program offers undergraduate, master's, and PhD students from around the world the opportunity to intern at leading academic and research institutions in Taiwan. By engaging in hands-on research projects under the guidance of experienced principal investigators, interns can expand their professional networks, explore future study or career paths in Taiwan, and contribute to key scientific fields.

Eligibility
Must hold foreign nationality and be currently studying at a foreign college or university outside of Taiwan
Must be enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program
Must not hold citizenship from Mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau
Must choose a research specialty that aligns with Taiwan's core strategic industries or key research areas
Must have proficiency in English, Mandarin, or Taiwanese
Must not receive concurrent funding from any other Taiwanese government department during the internship
Requirements
Submission of a complete profile on the IIPP online platform
Selection of an appropriate mentor and research project from the available IIPP vacancy list
Availability to commit to an internship lasting between 28 and 90 consecutive days
Ability to fund your own international airfare and secure accommodation (though the daily stipend is intended to offset these costs)
Compliance with the host institution's management guidelines and relevant Taiwanese laws

Official Certificate of Enrollment from the current foreign university
Copy of the bio-data page of a valid Passport
Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume in English or Chinese (maximum 2 pages)
At least one Letter of Recommendation
Headshot Photograph (360x480 pixels)
Academic Transcripts or additional proof of academic performance
Internship Plan (if requested by the specific host institution)

Selection Process
Initial administrative review of your profile and documents on the IIPP platform
Direct evaluation by the Principal Investigator (PI) hosting the specific research project you applied to
Interviews may be conducted by the PI to ensure alignment of research interests and skills
Final approval is granted by the NSTC, after which an official IIPP acceptance letter is issued for visa processing
