The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme is the Hungarian Government's most prestigious higher education scholarship. It was established to promote the internationalization of Hungarian higher education and to attract top international students from around the world. The program is based on bilateral educational cooperation agreements between Hungary and the governments of the "Sending Partners." It offers a fully-funded opportunity to study at 30 top Hungarian universities, with over 900 programs to choose from.
Benefits
Tuition-Free Education: Exemption from all tuition fees.
Monthly Stipend (Bachelor's/Master's): HUF 43,700 (approx. €110) per month.
Monthly Stipend (Doctoral): HUF 140,000 (first phase) and HUF 180,000 (second phase) per month.
Accommodation Contribution: A free dormitory place OR a contribution of HUF 40,000 per month for accommodation costs.
Medical Insurance: Health care services according to Hungarian legislation and supplementary medical insurance (up to HUF 65,000/year).
Eligibility
Be a citizen of an eligible "Sending Partner" country or territory.
Be nominated by the responsible authority (Sending Partner) of your home country.
Not be a Hungarian citizen (or hold dual citizenship).
Hold the required level of education for the program you are applying to (e.g., high school diploma for Bachelor's).
Meet the language proficiency requirements (usually English) set by the host university.
Possess a medical certificate of satisfactory health.
Instruction: Former scholarship holders re-applying for the same degree level are not eligible.

Find Program: Check the available study fields for your country and find a program/university.
Contact Sending Partner: Contact the responsible authority in your country to understand their nomination requirements and deadlines.
Apply Online: Register and submit your application on the Stipendium Hungaricum online portal (DreamApply).
Upload Documents: Upload all required documents by the deadline.
Sending Partner Nomination: Your Sending Partner reviews applications and nominates candidates (by end of February 2026).
University Entrance Exams: Nominated applicants will be contacted by the universities for entrance exams (March-May 2026).
Final Decision: Tempus Public Foundation notifies all applicants of the final results (June 2026).
