Fields of study: All Postgraduate Taught Master's disciplines (excluding Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates)
The University of Glasgow African Excellence Award aims to support high-achieving students from across Africa in their journey to become Future World Changers. The scholarship is awarded as a full tuition fee waiver to up to 15 international students from Africa starting a 1-year postgraduate taught Master's programme in any discipline. Note that this award covers tuition only; recipients must demonstrate they can cover their own living costs.

Eligibility
Must be resident in Africa and hold a passport from an eligible African country.
Must have International fee status.
Must demonstrate academic excellence and achieve grades equivalent to a UK 1st Class Honours degree.
Must hold an offer of a place for a postgraduate taught one-year Master's programme for the September 2026 intake (an offer is not required to apply initially, but is required to be considered for an interview).
Must be able to demonstrate a clear career and/or development plan supported by Master's level study.
Must meet UKVI living cost/maintenance requirements (as the scholarship covers tuition only).
Requirements
Complete the online scholarship application form.
Hold a valid Student ID and Application Number (obtained by applying for admission first).
Submit a personal statement/essay as part of the application form detailing career plans.
Participate in an interview (if shortlisted).

Application Process
1. Apply for admission to an eligible Postgraduate Taught Master's programme at the University of Glasgow to receive a Student ID.
2. Access the Scholarship Application Portal using your Student ID and Application Number.
3. Complete the African Excellence Award application form, including the personal statement.
4. Submit the scholarship application before the 31 March 2026 deadline.
5. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview by early May.
How to Apply
First, apply for a Master's degree on the University of Glasgow website. Once you have your Student ID, click the 'Apply Now' button on the African Excellence Award scholarship page to submit your funding application.
Selection Process
Review of academic merit (1st Class Honours requirement).
Assessment of the personal statement and development plan.
Interview for shortlisted candidates.
Notification of successful applicants by 8 May 2026.
